Hall Dunnerdale Cottages are nestled in the unspoilt Duddon
Valley. It is remote, surrounded by stunning scenery and a
gem of the Lake District. The
area is ideal for walkers, nature lovers and those who enjoy
the tranquility of the English countryside.
The valley itself is a
traditional sheep-farming country where generations of farmers
have reared the native Herdwicks that freely roam the fells.
Other wildlife of interest includes red squirrels, buzzards,
spot orchids and even a peregrine falcon.
The Duddon Valley offers
unrivalled walking on Lake District fells, through woodland
and along the River Duddon - all offering spectacular views
along the way. Just 1 mile away from Hall Dunnerdale and a
quiet saunter up the road is the village of Seathwaite, which
boasts the 16th century Newfield Inn, where good home-cooked
food, a selection of real ales, warm welcome and a roaring
log fire awaits.
Just a few miles away
from Hall Dunnerdale is that historic market town of Broughton-in-Furness,
with its high quality butchers and grocers shop, family-run
bakery and tearoom, post office, restaurants and a number
of pubs. The tourist information office in the square will
be only too happy to help you make the most of your stay by
providing information about local walking routes, key places
to visit and things to do in the area.
